Information on one of the largest PPO's, with a section devoted exclusively to practitioners. This site is laid out very well with great information in Health and Wellness, as well as a link to Reuters. Useful to physicians, Multiplan members, and anyone with health related questions.

Physicians for a National Health Program ***

This site includes information about the group itself, how to join it, press releases, newsletters, PNHP listserv, health care data updates, why the U.S. needs a single payer, medical student contacts, health care financing and policy resources, and Q & A about health insurance. This is good for anyone.

PCMS Home Page *

A HMO based in Garden City, New York. Great information for those needing insurance in New York/New Jersey, or for those who are already members, but not much for anyone else.

Physicians Health Services *

A health plan serving CT, NY, and NJ; some good health information but most of it is fairly basic. A good site for members or those wanting information about the company.

Prudential Healthcare Home Page ***

Nationwide healthcare and employee benefits company whose topics include research, investing, staying healthy, and many others. Massive web site with TONS of information of use to just about anyone.

PHCS Home Page **

Offers managed care products and services to employers nationwide through a group of commercial insurance carriers; lots of information about the company and what they offer, but not much more; good chart showing immunization schedule and recommended preventive procedures/tests for children and adults.

United Healthcare Home Page ***

Nationwide company providing healthcare coverage and related services to purchasers, consumers, managers, and providers of healthcare. A lot of information. The sections addressing individual and family health, fitness, and nutrition are fabulous -- prepare to get lost in the articles for a while!! Useful to just about anyone. 

MedConnect Managed Care Forum ****

Physicians and other healthcare professionals will find managed care information here from bits and pieces to an introductory course on managed care with slides and explanations.  Special features include discussion on various issues relevant to a physicians practice, a managed care topic of the month as well as access to archives.  Well presented.
